The history of Black Cat Cables reaches back as far as 1992 when its founder Chris Sommovigo introduced to the world the first truly precision-made 75 Ohm digital coaxial cable under the brand name “ILLUMINATI,” which set a new bar for digital signal transfer.

In the years that followed Chris was relentless in his pursuit of producing cables that mitigated the effects of signal path interference. He quickly became a pioneer of the industry, producing what were widely considered to be the worlds best digital cables.

Despite his success, he stayed true to the values of his artisan craft. Chris personally built every cable to ensure that Black Cat standards were maintained. After his untimely passing in 2022, the Black Cat legacy lives on through his wife and business partner Mayu, who shares in her husbands belief in the Black Cat vision.
